Position Summary and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a vibrant and programmatic line of research in hearing science/audiology, with a strong publication record and current or clear potential for extramural funding. The position is a tenure-track/tenured, 10-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research in hearing science/audiology, with a focus on advancing the field and contributing to the department's research mission
  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, with a commitment to innovative and effective pedagogy
  • Mentoring students, including advising and supervising research projects
  • Providing service to the department, university, and profession, including participating in departmental and university-wide committees and initiatives
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of departmental and university-wide initiatives, including those related to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • A Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences or a related field (e.g., psychology, biomedical engineering, neuroscience) at the time of hire
  • An established record of research productivity, with a strong publication record and current or clear potential for extramural funding
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the academic community
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills, with a commitment to innovative and effective pedagogy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in developing and implementing departmental and university-wide initiatives, including those related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience in collaborating with faculty and staff from other departments and units, including those in the health sciences and social sciences
