Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Playback Quality Enhancement group within the Media Engineering Association. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for driving the development of high-quality, client-facing software that directly impacts the media experience of our Disney+ subscribers. Your expertise in software development, real-time video playback, and media quality enhancement will be invaluable in helping us refine and tune each client's experience in real-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality software solutions for real-time video playback and media quality enhancement
• Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements and technical specifications
• Develop and maintain large-scale, complex codebases using languages such as Rust, Typescript, and Python (Pandas/NumPy)
• Analyze data gathered about playback performance and apply learnings to refine and tune each client's experience in real-time
• Ensure day-in and day-out system reliability and availability, with a focus on exceptional user experience
• Communicate technical plans, progress, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the team

Essential Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on full-stack development
• Familiarity with Rust and its ecosystem, as well as experience with Typescript and Python (Pandas/NumPy)
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and on budget
• Demonstrated commitment to system reliability and availability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions
• Experience building and integrating client code into a larger client codebase
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with real-time video playback, including protocols like HLS
• Developed and transported software for consumer devices, such as mobile phones, game consoles, smart speakers, and smart TVs
• Experience creating software in embedded or resource-constrained environments
• Familiarity with WASM, Python, Swift, or Brightscript
