Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist to join our team and play a key role in driving the growth of our ocean volumes and enhancing the development of our ocean product. As a subject matter expert, you'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to develop and implement strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product by executing strategies that align with our business objectives.
  • Work closely with the MD of Ocean to develop and implement pricing programs, analyze carrier service, routings, and carrier performance, and support carrier service issues.
  • Act as an ocean subject matter expert to support sales and operations, providing guidance and expertise on ocean-related matters.
  • Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, ensuring adherence to our preferred network.
  • Assist in developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement.
  • Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with the MD, Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables.
  • Direct and indirect customer contact will be required, ensuring that customer needs are met and exceeded.
  • Work closely with product, sales, and operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, minimizing our company's risk exposure and enhancing service quality.
  • Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded.
  • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity, submitting reports as required.
  • Work with the MD, Ocean, and regional ocean management team to promote the ocean product.
  • Support sales and operations as needed, providing guidance and expertise on ocean-related matters.
  • Manage annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets.
  • Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as logistics, transportation, or business administration.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing.
  • Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as logistics, transportation, or business administration.
  • Proven experience in ocean product development and management.

  • Experience working with global trade lane teams, sales, and operations.

  • Annual salary: $57,836.00 - $131,686.00 (dependent on experience and qualifications).
