As a Software Engineer in our Experience Management team, you will play a crucial role in constructing and maintaining the metadata and work platform for Disney+, ESPN+, and other streaming offerings. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a project that integrates with studios to deliver metadata and work for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Nat Geo, and Fox content onto the Disney Streaming platform.

About the Role

We are looking for a results-driven and motivated Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building high-performance, stable, and scalable structures to be deployed in an organization setting. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers, participating in high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our systems, and you will be expected to participate in on-call rotation, supporting systems and services during production incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to build software in a collaborative development process
  • Design and develop high-performance, stable, and scalable structures to be deployed in an organization setting
  • Participate in high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions
  • Participate in the code review process by providing feedback on pull requests
  • Participate in on-call rotation, supporting systems and services during production incidents

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in software engineering, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, RESTful services, and data persistence technologies. You should be an independent self-learner with excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to jump in and learn new technologies. Ideally, you will have experience with one programming language, such as Java, Typescript, C++, or JavaScript.

Essential Qualifications

  • Self-learner, independent, excellent problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies
  • Experience with one programming language (Java, Typescript, C++, or JavaScript)
  • Good knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • Understanding of RESTful services
  • Understanding of source control principles and exposure to Git
  • Understanding of data persistence technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL)
  • Exposure to build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline of study, and/or equivalent work experience
