Summary
This posting is accepting applications specifically for the Serviceperson position located at Egg Harbor Township Garage. Under the direction of the Superintendent or General Foreman, a Bus Serviceperson is responsible for checking and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT buses for daily services. Report any damages or repairs needed as directed by the supervisor. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Check bus fluids and maintain required levels
- Change fluids
- Clean inside and around buses
- Shift and drive buses in and around the garage
- Steam engines
- Change tires (utilizing the appropriate equipment)
- Complete forms required in carrying out duties of the position
Training:
- NJ TRANSIT’s Surface Transit Training Department offers comprehensive job-related training for all Servicepersons new hires. This may include, but is not guaranteed, support in obtaining a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) or a Commercial Driver License (CDL)
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Light professional mechanical experience preferred; diesel experience a plus but not required
- Be twenty-one years (21) years of age
- Possess a valid NJ Driver’s License with three (3) years of driving experience
- Must be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement or possess a valid NY/PA CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement***
• Be able to work any shift in keeping with seniority-based scheduling. Hours vary depending upon the Bus Garage.
- Be able to pass the pre-employment physical and background checks
- Have a good driving record with less than five (5) points
