We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our IBM i Software Engineering team as a Specialist Engineer.

Principal Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the IBM i infrastructure software assets including vendor products and in-house utilities throughout the life cycle from PoC, certification through to patching, evergreening and retirement
• Write development code (e.g. RPG, IBM i Control Language), build automated scripts for infrastructure products deployment, upgrades, process simplification and automation of IBM i system administration and infrastructure tasks
• Work under own initiative with management guidance to define standards, implement and test engineering solutions aligned with the platform architecture roadmap
• Focus on independent execution, problem solving and demonstration of passion towards engineering excellence
• Work on IBM i transformation projects and engagement with software vendor to improve supported vendor solutions

Requirements

• Strong experience on IBM i platform with good foundation knowledge covering OS/400, workload management, 3rd party software deployment and administration
• Strong developer background including experience with IBM i coding tools such as CL, RPG and SQL
• Administration skill on Linux including experience with troubleshooting and shell script. Scripting languages such as Python, YAML (Ansible) is desirable
• Familiarity with tooling such as GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible is desirable
• Knowledge and understanding of dashboarding tools like Splunk, QlikSense is desirable
• Exposure on IBM i infrastructure observability is desirable
• Occasional out of hours working required for change implementation
• Be able to work under own initiative with management guidance to define standards, implement and test engineering solutions aligned with the platform architecture roadmap
