What will you be doing as a Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll be central to building and evolving our modern data platform. Your work will unify data across systems to deliver trusted insights, drive decision-making, and unlock value across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines (e.g., Matillion) using best practices (CI/CD, Git, code review).
  • Develop robust data ingestion and transformation flows through medallion-style architecture (bronze/silver/gold).
  • Create reusable, governed data models to support analytics tools like Looker.
  • Ensure data quality with automated testing, validation, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Optimise Snowflake for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate analytical needs into reliable datasets.
  • Maintain documentation and support data standards, governance, and compliance (e.g., GDPR).
  • Contribute to platform strategy, architecture decisions, and codebase quality.
  • Mentor junior team members and support training initiatives.
  • Work in agile delivery teams to align data initiatives with business outcomes

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years in Data or Analytics Engineering
  • Strong experience with Snowflake, Matillion, and Looker
  • Skilled in data modelling, ELT pipelines, and SQL
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, MDM, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Experience with CI/CD, data quality controls, and governance (e.g. GDPR)
  • Confident working across teams and translating business needs into data solutions

Desirable:

  • SnowPro certification
  • Experience with real-time data, metadata tools, and platform migrations
  • Background in mentoring or leading technical initiatives
